MARRIAGE AND THE TRINITY

The Trinity is the best marriage. The Trinity is a relationship which has been described many ways - an egg, an onion, triangle within a triangle and the list goes on. At this point in my Faith-Walk, I view The Trinity as the best partnership or marriage.

I hope you are blessed like me to have a spouse where you can complete their sentence(s). Maybe the two of you don't even have to say anything sometimes and you just know where you want to eat dinner and go there. It used to spook each of us out, but now we just laugh. We realize quality time with each other developed our deep connection, our "Spock-like-mind-melding" if you will.

I believe The Trinity is the perfect example of this relationship. Father God, Christ Jesus the Son, and The Holy Spirit are three persons yet one relationship. Words are thoughts made vocal. Not to say that Father God is incapable of speaking, but I see Jesus, actively sitting at Father God's right hand as Father God's vocal piece - God's Word made flesh. The Holy Spirit is the mind and heart or Will of God and also speaks.

Our marriages should be the same. In my relationship with Tanya, I have the power to speak. Tanya has the power to speak. In addition, The Spirit that binds us and makes that deep connection speaks also. This is The Spirit that says, "Back off, take a step back for a moment." -- in a heated debate. This is also the same Spirit that encourages other behavior like holding each other's hands, asking if the other needs help in the house, and so on. It is awesome to pay attention to what each other says, but don't forget to listen to The Spirit in your relationship. He will help you keep unified.
  • "The man said, 'This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.' That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh." - Genesis 2:24
As a unit, as one flesh, you should be able to see Tanya and The Holy Spirit when I meet and speak with you. Also, when you meet and speak with Tanya, you should see me and The Holy Spirit within her. In the following passage of Scripture, Jesus was addressing the Pharisees issue on divorce. However, in the context of this blog I wish for you to receive the emphasis of being unified as a married couple; of being on the same page and representing each other and God with dignity, love and respect.
  • “It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law,”Jesus replied. “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” - Mark 10:5-9
Man leaves his father and mother and is joined in unity with a female because she is of the same kind - God took her from man - woman. She becomes his wife. God encourages, "Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate." I encourage you to be a unified trinity as God is the unified Trinity.
