MORE THAN SURVIVORS

Some of us in this world have experienced a rough life growing up. Some of us keep what happened to our parents and ancestors chained to our lives for our burden to bear. In both cases, the start of a new and better life/lifestyle begins with a decision to pursue that. The decision to escape one's negative environment or past is helped with the right attitude/mindset - I am more than a survivor. 

Once you have this determination in your mind and heart. Once you have sold-out to this attitude, a next step might be to acquire a support group. Find a group of friends or a mentor that will encourage and aide in your journey to make a break with the old and take a hold of the new.

However, the MUST in this equation is a personal relationship with Christ Jesus. Once you have Christ as your Lord, Savior and Friend - He is the one that promises to stick closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24). He is the one that assures you that He will never leave you, nor abandon/forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). 

Paul promises in his letter to the believers in Rome (Romans 8:37) -  "in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us." You might want to ask - In all what things are we more than conquerors? Two verse before this in verse 35 we have the answer - Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? Believers in Christ are more than conquerors through trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger and sword.

But wait! There's more! Verses 38-39 elaborate on our Helper. "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." What a Blessed Assurance! I like to say With God for you, not If God is for you, who can be against you. And with the proper mindset, attitude and support group there is no reason at all that those with rough and mediocre lives can be More Than Survivors.
